The roads around Savile are already congested with the increasing amount of traffic, in particular the junction of Savile Road, Mill Street West and Mill Street East has become a traffic black-spot.
Traffic turning from either side onto Savile Road has to negotiate a busy road with people wishing to go to Asda which is on Mill Street West have to continually negotiate moving traffic. The present traffic control measures are adding to the anger and frustration of users.
Between school runs the roads virtually gridlocked for a considerable period, we need better consultation with the community by Kirklees Council to alleviate this growing problem. One local resident stuck in the traffic queue said “Nearly every day when I come back from work I encounter the most congested traffic in Savile Town, things are getting bad to worse, I have been waiting in this queue for nearly 15 minutes and I only live about 150 yards up the road, it is absolute hell driving in Savile Town at rush hours. As residents and taxpayers, we deserve better road management schemes”
